QUANTITY SURVEYOR

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor who is passionate about cost estimation and ensuring budget efficiency in high-quality design projects within innovative office environments.

Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor at SHAKE Design & Build, you will be responsible for the estimation, costing, and financial oversight of our office fit-out projects. You’ll work closely with our team of architects and interior designers, you will report to our Head of Build, and collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective procurement and execution. This is an ideal role for a meticulous and client-oriented professional with strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Your experience and skills

  • Experience: You have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant quantity surveying experience in office, retail, and/or hospitality-related companies. 
  • Background: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Architect, Interior Architect, Engineer or a related field. 
  • Skills: Cost estimation, budget management, procurement expertise, and supplier contract negotiation. 
  • Attributes: Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail. Team player, reliable and motivated. Extremely client-oriented. 
  • Language: Fluency in French, Dutch, and English – any combination is valued.

Your job

  • General Mission: Conduct and optimally control project cost estimation, quantity measurement and budget tracking to achieve quality and profitability objectives, using the resources available effectively. 
  • Objectives: Prepare accurate cost estimates for build works, materials, furniture and other project expenses related to office design and ensure cost-effective procurement and financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle. Knowledge of special techniques (HVAC, Acoustics,…) linked to office design.

Job content

  • Analysing project specifications and requirements to determine cost estimates. 
  • Organizing and following up on the tender phase of projects, including: Contacting suppliers, and evaluating offers.
  • Preparing final cost breakdowns and detailed budgets for clients.
  • Collaborating with the design and project management teams to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Monitoring costs throughout the project, identifying potential budget risks, and implementing corrective actions. 
  • Communicating regularly with internal stakeholders to provide budget updates and adjustments.
  • Organizing and attending cost-related project meetings, including drafting financial reports.
  • Following up on financial adjustments and final account reconciliations.
