HEAD OF BUILD

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Build who is passionate about executing and building high-quality design projects and leading seamless project delivery in innovative office environments.

Job Description:

As the Head of Build at SHAKE Design & Build, you will be responsible for overseeing the build phase of our design projects, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. You’ll collaborate with our design team, project managers, vendors, and clients to bring our concepts to life, transforming office spaces into functional, inspiring environments. This is an ideal role for a leader with a strong background in design and build execution, project and team management.

Your experience and skills

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing design and build projects, with a proven track record of delivering commercial or office space projects from concept to completion.
• Background: Engineer, Architect, or a related field.
• Skills: Strong understanding of interior fit-out processes, HVAC, expertise in finishing work; expertise in project management, including scheduling, budgeting
• Attributes: A collaborative, detail-oriented leader with excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a talent for managing multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth projects delivery.
• Language: Fluency in Dutch, French and English are required.

Your job

Operational Management:

• Analysis of building and project technical specifications.
• Study and monitoring of budgets, including:
  • Development of TurnKey and estimated budgets.
  • Requesting and verifying supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Preparation, distribution, and monitoring of construction schedules in coordination with other department heads.

Team Management:

• Leading and mentoring the Build team, including:
• Monitoring the team’s tasks, which consist for reference of (non-exhaustively):
  • Technical analysis of buildings.
  • Preparation and issuance of orders.
  • Construction scheduling and timeline management.
  • Site visits and inspections.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Interacting with suppliers and clients.
  • Organizing and conducting site meetings, including drafting meeting minutes
  • Preparing final project accounts.
  • Organizing and overseeing project handovers with clients.
  • Following up on resolution of client remarks.
  • Compiling As-Built documentation.
• Organizing and conducting regular internal team meetings.
• Managing team members’ leave and absences.
• Collaborating with the HR department on recruitment.
• Organizing and supervising training for new team members.
• Managing HR-related issues connected to the Build department.
